Manufacturing Associate- Day Shift

Are you looking for a role in a manufacturing environment applying your attention to detail and hands-on experience? At Tecton, we design and manufacture innovative pultruded fiberglass composite materials, superior to the industry.

Highlights of your role

  • Complete manufacturing orders by visually inspecting all parts to check for quality conformity
  • Perform quality checks by using measuring devices such as calipers, angle blocks, taper gauges, tape measure, and measuring tables
  • Assist in training new associates, as needed
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as saws
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

 

Schedule & Pay

  • The normal work schedule includes working 36 hours one week (Sun/Wed/Thu) and 48 hours the next (Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat).
  • Work 7 out of 14 days and every other weekend is a three-day weekend off!

Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 6:45 PM

            Pay: Effective hourly rate $23.64 ($20.75 base + $ 4.00-weekend premium)

  • Perform analytical testing with accuracy and precision; prepare chemicals and test set-ups according to laboratory procedures.
  • Demonstrate compliance to established R&D laboratory practices including maintenance of records, inventory for lab consumables, and housekeeping activities as needed.
  • Accurately and precisely conducts testing, data collection, and analyses of test results as specified by team and project needs.

Marvin Composites in Salem, VA is a proud member of the Marvin Family of Companies.  We design and manufacture fiberglass-reinforced plastics through an innovative process called pultrusion. Pultruded materials are an ideal replacement for traditional building materials in many applications - we are proud to be the world leader in pultrusion! 

Production Associates fill one of two roles.  Associates are selected for one of these positions based on interest, skills, and previous experience.

1.  Pultrusion Operators - Operators are responsible for running a production line.  They ensure a continuous supply of raw materials, machine set up and operation, and troubleshooting.  This position requires associates to manage and prioritize multiple tasks that ensure the continuous operation of the production line.  Candidates must have a good memory and problem-solving skills.  Once trained, this position provides training and mentoring to new associates.  Basic math and computer skills are required.

2.  Pultrusion Inspectors - This position inspects finished goods as they come off the manufacturing line, prepares shipping labels, and packs products.  Responsibilities include operating fabrication equipment, monitoring product quality to ensure customer specifications are met and preparing equipment/materials for production runs.  Once trained, provide mentoring and training to new associates.  Basic math and computer skills are required.

Materials Preparation Associate - Day Shift

In this role, you will prepare raw materials to use in production and are responsible for ensuring delivery of materials to production lines in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Completes all quality testing and measurement requirements; performs and documents testing of non-conforming materials as prescribed/assigned
  • Prepares raw materials to specification to use in production
  • Ensures materials are delivered to the production lines in a timely manner
  • Provides timely and friendly service to all customers
  • Actively maintains a clean work area

6:30 AM - 6:45 PM
