Production

Production Associate - Day Shift (VA)

Production Associates fill one of two roles.  Associates are selected for one of these positions based on interest, skills, and previous experience.

1.  Pultrusion Operators - Operators are responsible for running a production line.  They ensure a continuous supply of raw materials, machine set up and operation, and troubleshooting.  This position requires associates to manage and prioritize multiple tasks that ensure continuous operation of the production line.  Candidates must have a good memory and problem solving skills.  Once trained, this position provides training and mentoring to new associates.  Basic math and computer skills required.

2.  Pultrusion Inspectors - This position inspects finished goods as they come off the manufacturing line, prepares shipping labels, and packs product.  Responsibilities include operating fabrication equipment, monitoring product quality to ensure customer specifications are met and preparing equipment/materials for production runs.  Once trained, provide mentoring and training to new associates.  Basic math and computer skills required.

Machinist

A Machinist is responsible for safely setting up and operating equipment in the Tool & Die shop while maintaining a focus on quality workmanship. Our shop is a safe, clean and cutting-edge environment.

Key Responsibilities:                     

  • Set up and effectively operation of machine tools (i.e. surface grinders, vertical mills) to manufacture dies and other tooling
  • Ability to use all measuring and gauging equipment to perform quality checks
  • Heat treating
  • Inspects and maintains machining equipment
  • Inspects, repairs or modifies tools/dies using machine tools and/or hand tools
  • Lifts, positions and secures parts on surface plate/work tables using hoists, vises, angle plates or v-blocks

 

Education and Experience:

  • Two or more years relevant work experience
  • Related two-year technical degree preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to operate CNC mill or surface grinder independently

Schedule:

6:30 p.m. – 6:45 a.m.  The normal schedule includes working 36 hours one week (Sun/Wed/Thu) and 48 hours the next (Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat).  All hours over 40 hours per week are compensated at an overtime rate.  With this schedule you only work 7 out of 14 days and every other weekend is a three-day weekend off!

 

Pay:

Starting wage is dependent on experience plus additional 20% shift premium.  Our technical career path program is unique and allows for you to increase your hourly wage as you learn and grown with us!

Supply Chain Project Manager

Position Summary:

Tecton is currently seeking a Supply Chain Project Manager to join the team at our Fargo, ND location. The Supply Chain Project Manager role plays an instrumental part in executing the strategic initiatives of Tecton’s supply chain to maximize value to its customers and stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate projects specifically related to the Supply Chain team and company goals to meet business objectives.
  • Lead projects aimed at both increasing capacity and improving efficiencies related to the movement of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Drive efficiency and process improvements by leading efforts to leverage new technologies throughout the supply chain.
  • Lead packaging improvement projects that increase safety, improve storage density, and reduce damaged product.
  • Ensure project scopes, schedules, and budgets are met as defined by established plan(s)

 

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Two or 4-year degree in Engineering or Supply Chain or equivalent work experience in logistics, purchasing, and/or inventory management
  • 0-3 years' experience in project management
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles preferred
  • Preference given to candidates with advanced degrees, trainings, and/or certifications (Supply Chain, APICS, ISM)

Research and Development Scientist

Position Summary:

Tecton is currently seeking a Research and Development Scientist to join the Engineering team at our Fargo, ND location. We are currently searching for candidates who are looking to advance their career with an innovation-driven company as a R & D Scientist:

Research and Development Scientists are responsible for the development of the vision of a specific material/process core competency, managing innovative projects and lead or participate on cross functional teams, that either improve/enhance our material platform and associated products or create new next generation material platforms that enable our customers to develop new products. 

All projects are undertaken with the company’s strategic plans and goals in sight.  Develop the technical expertise for an assigned competency within the Tecton organization.  This expertise will allow you to provide project ideas for advanced research through implementation that are desired by our customers and meet the feasibility and viability goals of the organization.

This position provides several immediate career path level options, based on experience.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or participate on AR/IPT/PPT projects. Achieve scope of project on time and within budget.
  • Help ensure that the activities (experiments, tests and reports) are performed at the highest technical standards.
  • Support production, quality control and assurance with respect to material performance characteristics and provide technical support to assess whether materials meet specifications.
  • Provide responsive technical advice, service or assistance on technical issues and make material and/or application recommendations to sales associates/customers when requested.
  • Keep current on new material developments, products, ingredients, and techniques within the plastics industry through technical literature, attendance at technical and professional meetings or seminars, trade organizations and/or shows or contact with customers, suppliers, etc.
  • Perform literature and laboratory research relating to new material development evaluation with respect to new applications.
  • Positively impact the company’s bottom-line through process improvements and material cost reductions.
  • Champion R&D trials to test new materials and process improvements.
  • Perform test protocols for materials within the assigned technical area, utilizing the analytical R&D laboratory.
  • Coordinate test protocols for materials within the assigned technical area, utilizing academic and/or third-party test partners.
  • Interact with suppliers (with Materials Management Group’s involvement) to improve current material technologies and/or developing new material technologies.

 

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year technical degree required in a technical area, i.e. polymer and coatings, chemistry, engineering or material science

Product Development Engineer

Location: Fargo, ND

Position Summary:

Tecton is currently seeking a Product Development Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Fargo, ND location. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and tooling meet internal and external customer’s specifications. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use CREO applications to design, verify and validate products and tooling
  • Work with potential and current customers on product design
  • Generate quotes in an accurate and timely manner
  • Create and maintain product quality prints and documents
  • Develop and implement innovations that will improve Tecton’s productivity and capabilities
  • Complete project scopes within budget and on time

 

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree required
  • Project management experience or training preferred
