Production

Production Associate - Night Shift (VA)

 

Marvin Composites in Salem,VA is a proud member of the Marvin Family of Companies.  We design and manufacture fiberglass-reinforced plastics through an innovative process called pultrusion. Pultruded materials are an ideal replacement for traditional building materials in many applications - we are proud to be the world leader in pultrusion! 

Production Associates fill one of two roles.  Associates are selected for one of these positions based on interest, skills, and previous experience.

1.  Pultrusion Operators - Operators are responsible for running a production line.  They ensure a continuous supply of raw materials, machine set up and operation, and troubleshooting.  This position requires associates to manage and prioritize multiple tasks that ensure the continuous operation of the production line.  Candidates must have a good memory and problem-solving skills.  Once trained, this position provides training and mentoring to new associates.  Basic math and computer skills are required.

2.  Pultrusion Inspectors - This position inspects finished goods as they come off the manufacturing line, prepares shipping labels, and packs products.  Responsibilities include operating fabrication equipment, monitoring product quality to ensure customer specifications are met, and preparing equipment/materials for production runs.  Once trained, provide mentoring and training to new associates.  Basic math and computer skills are required.

  • Perform quality checks by using measuring devices such as calipers, angle blocks, taper gauges, tape measure, and measuring tables
  • Assist in training new associates, as needed
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as saws
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

 

Schedule & Pay

  • The normal work schedule includes working 36 hours one week (Sun/Wed/Thu) and 48 hours the next (Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat).
  • Work 7 out of 14 days and every other weekend is a three-day weekend off!

Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 6:45 PM

            Pay: Effective hourly rate $23.64 ($20.75 base + $4.00 weekend premium)

Tool & Die Maker III

  • Set up an effective operation of machine tools (i.e. CNC grinders, machining centers, and wire EDM) to manufacture dies and other tooling
  • Ability to use all measuring and gauging equipment to perform quality checks
  • Perform heat treating
  • Understand CAD, technical blueprints, models, and specifications
  • Inspect and maintain machining equipment
  • Inspect, repair or modify tools/dies using machine tools and/or hand tools
  • Foster continuous improvement advancements in the manufacturing processes
  • Provide outstanding customer service to your customers, including on-time delivery
  • Coach and mentor less experience team members

Maintenance

Custodian

As a Custodian with Tecton, a proud member of the Marvin Family of Companies, this role is responsible to perform custodial work and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the facility is maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work with various departments and build relationships with our outside vendors. If you're looking for a role that provides you with the flexibility and trust to do your job while providing meaningful wellness incentives then our Custodian role may be a fit for you!

Highlights of your role

  • Clean office areas and general areas at the main plant- such as conference rooms, break rooms, stairs, and hallways
  • Maintain hygiene in critical areas including bathrooms, shared refrigerators, and the water/ice machine
  • Monitor and maintain the grounds by emptying outdoor cigarette receptacles and trash, and debris
  • Clean the Tecton East plant bathrooms and offices
  • Deep cleaning of carpets and bathroom floor and other areas as needed
  • Work with vendors and manage the supply of cleaning supplies and stock supplies for the Market area and kitchenette
