Tecton

The Profile of Strength
and Durability

Tecton®'s pultruded fiberglass products provide strength and a high degree of insulation when compared to aluminum or steel. This saves energy, plus adds comfort and value in applications where temperature differentials are important. Tecton's pultrusion process is the best and most cost-effective method for the production of lineal thermoset composites.

Benefits of pultruded fiberglass

Strong, Complex Shapes And Design

High volume, complex thin-wall profiles are our specialty. Our value engineered design process can simplify your product and increase efficiency by combining functions. This can reduce parts and associated costs.

Durion® Finish

When you combine our tough pultruded substrate with a patented Durion hard acrylic finish, you're getting a product that is beautiful today and stays beautiful for decades to come. Durion is harder and thicker than other high-performance finishes. It is non-reactive, making it extremely weather and corrosion resistant. Durion finish is available in any color, making the entire spectrum available for your product applications. The final result is a product that is nearly maintenance free and keeps its like-new appearance for years.

Stability And Thermal Properties

Our pultrusions have a low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). This creates advantages for appearance and helps prevent problems—such as gaps or buckling—that are often seen with aluminum or vinyl. Pultrusions have approximately the same CTE as glass. In the window and door industry, this helps maintain glass-to-seal integrity to prevent air and water infiltration.

Tecton's pultruded fiberglass products provide a high degree of insulation when compared to aluminum or steel. This saves energy, plus adds comfort and value in applications where temperature differentials are important. This also makes pultruded components resistant to the formation of condensation.

Pultrusions do not distort at temperatures up to 350° F and will not become brittle in winter cold.

Chemical/Corrosion Resistance

Pultrusions are resistant to many chemicals and acid rain that damage other materials. You don't need to worry about oxidation, rust or the corrosive effects caused by harsh coastal environments.

Product Development

Our in-house product development and R & D teams utilize the following capabilities and resources:

Tecton engineers work closely with our customers in the design and development stages to ensure the product meets its desired performance requirements.

Uses of pultruded fiberglass

Tecton Products produces superior quality, high volume, thin wall complex shape pultrusions with a weatherable finish.

Residential windows

One of the leading uses of pultrusion technology is in the fenestration industry. Tecton, in partnership with Marvin Windows and Doors, has helped create two successful residential product lines. Since 1992, these are the two fastest growing composite product lines in the industry.

Commercial windows

Framing on commercial/architectural windows can be made from Tecton pultrusions. The result will be strong, beautiful and durable windows that are energy efficient. Contact Tecton and let us assist your company in the design and development of a commercial window framing system.

Freezer/refrigeration cases

Because Tecton's pultruded material has low thermal conductivity, it is ideal for freezer and refrigeration cases. An added benefit is that this same property makes pultruded cases far more resistant to condensation than metal cases. The next time you buy ice cream at your local supermarket, there is a good chance that these freezer cases are framed with our material.

Tecton Door System

Tecton pultrusions are an ideal material for entry door frames. They have a high strength to weight ratio and are energy efficient. They can stand up to wind, rain, sun, heat and cold. Pultruded entry door frames can be produced in a complete spectrum of colors. This is one tough material. Check out the Tecton® Door System.

Other Product Applications

There seems to be no limit to the number of uses that manufacturers are finding for pultruded materials. Other applications include trim components, decks, docks, modular building components, fences, utility components, outdoor recreation equipment, antennas, bridges and roof systems. Almost any application that can utilize a continuous profile design and needs some or all of the following characteristics is worth a call to Tecton:
